Australian singer/songwriter/guitarist and instrumentalist Joe Matera is a man with many talents. As a respected music journalist and the best-selling author of ‘Backstage Pass: The Grit and The Glamour’, Matera is not one to sit idle. Matera recently signed to iconic Australian record label Possum Records for the worldwide release of his new album, The Lone Runner which is due for release on March 17th. Better known musically for his guitar driven pop-rock music, the new all instrumental album sees Matera taking a left turn on his musical evolution path, with a cocktail of sounds the delve into electronica, beats, guitar and synths to create an ambient and chilled outing which at times, evokes the musical spirit of Massive Attack, Mike Oldfield and Brian Eno. “I’m honoured to be joining the artist roster of Possum Records” says Matera. “It’s great to find a home for my music, and one where my music will be given it’s due with support and belief, something that Possum Records CEO Philip Israël firmly established from the moment my music caught his ear.
